I am Dave and I have Two Private Guesthouses located in the charming area of Taman Sentosa, 3.0km from downtown Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
My homestay accommodation is truly unique because it provides hotel like facilities and they are the first and only type in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
It is the first of its kind homestay accommodation in Johor Bahru for business, budget and group travelers traveling through the southern gate of Malaysia It has been established since 2008.
These two types of private homestay guesthouse accommodation suit different travellers. For single or small group travelers we offer lovely private rooms at the JB Guesthouse and for larger groups we have a whole homestay house for everyone to enjoy.

Our USM students were going to visit Singapore for 2 days and some 30 of us booked both the houses. So near the Singapore just 5 minutes away. Definitely will be back. Low cost, the place was very nice and clean. Good concept best so far in JB.
We were very happy with the homestay arrangement, we managed to book 2 houses for our wedding function. Our relatives were happy with the arrangement. Definitely beats booking hotel rooms prices for large group and we love the privacy.
Ok, this place is not luxurious, but it’s as close as you’ll get for 40 – 50RM per night. There’s not that much to see in JB, but if you’re shocked by prices in Singapore and can handle a commute this would make a great alternative. Otherwise, if you’re travelling around Malaysia and want a break from the budget hotels with used sheets and towels, stay here. Rates vary from 40-50RM. Sheets are changed after EVERY check-in (it’s NOT standard practice to do this at budget inns in Malaysia).
I had my own bathroom and balcony (could have had bathroom and kitchen instead). Huge bed, tv, large room and very clean. Free wifi and broadband.
About 10minutes by bus from the centre of JB, but near a supermarket and good shopping area. Secure house. I’ll be staying here again before leaving from Singapore.
Clean and large rooms, and kitchen facilities were very much appreciated. The self-checkin system they are testing seems to work okay, just make sure you email them beforehand to get the passcode to the gate.
We recently stayed 1 night at the JB Guest House. It’s about 10-15 mins outside of JB and took us just over 30 mins by bus from JB Sentral bus stn.The info provided by the owner was perfect and we arrived at the accomodation without any trouble. We used public transport but a taxi would have been much quicker. The room was basic but large and had everything we needed and was clean. The shower was nice and hot. The wifi worked a treat. There are a number of places to eat within a 2-5 min walk. As this is a residential area it gives you a taste of Malaysian life. We would recommend this to those on a budget not minding a trip beyond the city centre.
Just finished a month’s stay at JB Guesthouse in Johor Bahru and wanted to recommend it highly to other travellers. I initially stayed at Good.. Guesthouse but the location was terrible, my room was really small and I felt really lonely and isolated. After some time I moved to JB Guesthouse which was in a much better location in terms of very close to the Singapore customs entry, downtown JB and a 1 minute walk to lots of really cheap & delicious hawker food stalls, wifi cafes and shops. It was really a great find and very peaceful, convenient and private. The rooms are HUGE and most are self-contained but there is a public kitchen and a washing machine as well.
The owner Dave and his partner Joe were also the mostcaring and helpful people I have met and made my month’s stay even more pleasant.Personally, I think JB Guesthouse was heaps better than my stay in Singapore. It was far cheaper and much nicer than living in extremely crowded, cramped and expensive accomodation in Singapore. It really felt like Home Away From Home and would highly recommend it to anyone who is waiting for their visa to Singapore.
